NAT KING COLE AT 100

“A performance of a lifetime.”

This special concert celebrating Nat King Cole’s 100th birthday premiered at The Kennedy Center in October 2019, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and special guests for three performances.  The concert showcased the impact of Cole’s seminal talents as a brilliant vocalist, pianist and trail blazing icon and featured the stellar talents of Patti Austin, Eric Benét, Freddy Cole, Dulé Hill, BeBe Winans, music director and drummer, Terri Lyne Carrington; pianist, Eric Reed; guitarist, Mark Whitfield and bassist, Ben Williams.  The program also included new orchestral arrangements, tap dance and specially curated visuals.

 

This concert was presented again in April 2022 by the Nashville Symphony with special guests at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for three performances. Featured special guests were Patti Austin, Will Downing, Ryan Shaw, Phillip Attmore, music director and drummer, Terri Lyne Carrington; pianist, Gerald Clayton; guitarist, Mark Whitfield and bassist, Ben Williams.
